i love you sailor

engine room console of my great-grandpa's ship

i suppose it’s unsuprising that the horse latitudes has developed a mild obession with all things nautical, piratical or maritime.

afterall, we got our name from the place on the sea where there’s nothing to do but have faith; wait for the winds to pick up and carry you home.

and much as the word, ’scandinavian’ will make me pay more attention to any particular subject more recently so does the word ’sailor’ - though my greatgrandfather was captain of this awe inspiring console (and the attached oceanliner) so maybe its always been in my landlocked blood.

i’ve posted an i love you sailor track before but i keep coming back to them. they’re a happenstance find, friends of a friend adrift in the myspace ocean for love, not money. this was the hook that dragged me in, lilting and breezy, kindly and warm, it sounds like a song playing on a distant radio while you sleep the day away in the dappled sunlight of a lime tree arbour.

apologies for the way it cuts off, it was aquired by not entirely conventional means, but there’s more than enough here to want to be the sailor they’re in love with.

i love you sailor - the city in which you live
