laid bear

sometimes songs just stick with me despite myself and maybe its something about the coming of spring which takes me back to beach boys-eque material but panda bear’s comfy in nautica has been my sunshine tonic for the past two or three months. oddly antiquated to a time i could never have known, with speedways, cathedrals and long boards; the swimmy production and ‘try to remember always to have a good time’ refrain is heralding my summer.

its a song that sounds like having cold toes, because when you left the house it was balmy and sunny but you’ve stayed out til past twilight, just hanging around shooting the breeze, listening to music, drinking vodka tonics and laughing and its gotten chilly. a song which sounds like the thick socks you put on to compensate for your cold toes. a song that sound like the three or four long, blue twilights you have each year sat outside with friends and lovers that make you realise the moment is nearly perfect but fades faster than mayflies.
