so my somewhat disfunctional love affair with deptford takes another turn this weekend when i make a move from se8 to se1. yep enough whinging, i’m taking positive action all the way to zone one.

for the second time in a rather selfish row, in honour of the next few days ’something for the weekend’ brings you the frankly enormous eight minute lp version of curtis mayfield’s move on up.

sure its got the familar tremeloed guitar, frantic bongo and raspy brass of the 12 inch version, not to mention mayfield’s righteous honeyed soul vocal stylings but this album cut is all about what happens after the stripped down percussion breakdown at four minutes.
