something for the weekend? part 3

feeling a little ropey after that big thanksgiving meal yesterday?
well you might not be, but i am. my hangover’s settled itself into the space between my eyebrows and my hairline making me squint at the screen and three cups of coffee aren’t quite enough to make the sleepiness disappear.
and then there’s that impending inevitability of more alcohol since i’m hitting up my favourite camden boozer at lunchtime, organising a minor soiree based round buckets of iced beer here at salary towers for early evening and then hopping a tube out west for the private view of the damien hirst murderme collection (oops, looks like i just dropped something!) before i can hit the hay tonight.
so i thought we could all do with a little levity on a dark november thursday. i was scrabbling around for something with just the right amount of bounce to haul me back into the party mood and get all you playas ready for your weekend of hennessey and high rollers (or reading the guardian in bed listening to the eraser) when this little nugget sprang to mind.
Alice Smith who’s debut album For Lovers Dreamers and Me dropped earlier this year on BBE, has a cute soulful voice but this Maurice Fulton remix of the standout if track from the album, Love Endeavour is just the kind of thing i figure we should all be starting our weekends with.
Handclaps? Check
Thumpy 808ness? Double Check
Poingy slightly spacey noises? Yezzur
Crescendoing female vocal and piano hook? You know that…

[...] My track of the year was the maurice fulton mix of Alice Smith’s Love Endevour and in the spirit of such amazing manchester based soul music here is another fulton production which is also supafreakin dope. Kathy Diamond-All Woman(vocalmix).mp3 [...]
